The Cost of Being Strong
When strength becomes an identity, putting it down can feel more dangerous than carrying it.
The Cost of Being Strong examines what happens when strength stops being a resource we can access and becomes an identity we believe we must maintain.
Through psychology, storytelling, reflection, and facilitated conversation, participants explore the cumulative cost of chronic strength—the pressure to keep functioning, providing, performing, caregiving, and appearing capable even when the person carrying it needs care.
The experience invites participants to examine the difference between being strong and having access to strength, the beliefs and patterns that make strength difficult to put down, and what it might mean to build a life where strength is available—but not required at all times.
Participants leave with: greater awareness of chronic-strength patterns; language for recognizing the cost of overfunctioning; an opportunity to reconsider beliefs about vulnerability, rest, support, and capacity; and practical ways to begin treating strength as a resource rather than an identity.
Best for: mental-health and wellness organizations, women's conferences, healthcare and caregiving audiences, universities, employee resource groups, faith communities, leadership programs, and conversations about burnout and emotional well-being.

Survival Has a Sound
Before survival becomes a story we can tell, it often has a sound.
A lock clicking. A door slamming. A heartbeat accelerating. A voice becoming louder—or disappearing altogether. Sometimes survival even sounds like “I'm fine,” “I got it,” achievement, humor, caretaking, or constant busyness.
Survival Has a Sound is an immersive experience drawing on the science of sound and the body's response to it alongside live music, spoken word, storytelling, reflection, and facilitated conversation to explore the relationship between sound, survival, and healing.
Participants listen differently—to their bodies, their environments, their histories, and the survival strategies that once protected them. They consider what survival required them to become, what those adaptations provided, and what they may have cost.
But the experience doesn't end with identifying survival.
Participants cross the bridge from “What does survival sound like?” to “What might healing sound like instead?” and ultimately create language for a new sound of their own.
Participants leave with: a new framework for recognizing survival responses; greater awareness of how sound, memory, behavior, and the body intersect; language for examining adaptive behaviors without shame; and a personally defined sound of healing to carry forward.
Best for: conferences, universities, mental-health organizations, arts and cultural programs, community organizations, faith communities, retreats, and experiential wellness programming.

Sustainable Productivity
The goal isn't to get more out of people. It's to make high performance sustainable.
Sustainable Productivity challenges a familiar workplace assumption: that productivity is measured only by how much a person can produce rather than whether the way they produce can actually be sustained.
Drawing from psychology, business leadership, workplace experience, and practical behavior change, Emma Dree explores four interconnected elements of sustainable performance: focus and energy, physical well-being, emotional boundaries, and productivity.
Rather than adding another optimization strategy to an already overloaded day, participants examine how they work, what depletes the resources good work depends on, and what practices can support strong performance over time.
Participants leave with: practical strategies for protecting focus and energy; greater awareness of the relationship between physical well-being and performance; emotional-boundary practices; and a framework for evaluating whether their current ways of working support long-term effectiveness.
Available as: a standalone keynote or workshop, or the four-part Sustainable Performance Series.
Best for: corporations, employee-wellness programs, HR and People teams, Learning & Development, employee resource groups, leadership development, professional associations, universities, and organizations navigating burnout, workload, or remote and hybrid work.
